Santiburi Samui Country Club | Koh Samui

Routed through a jungle of towering coconut trees that carpets Koh Samui's picturesque Khao Pom Mountain, Santiburi Samui is as tranquil as it is tough. At 6,930 yards, the course isn't extremely long, but the rise and fall of its terrain produces enough blind tee shots and uneven lies to make the up and down journey a bear. Constant views of the ocean help players get over their diminishing stock of golf balls, while the clubhouse waits to welcome the wounded with even more vistas - the outdoor restaurant looks out over the entire north end of the island, as well as the Gulf of Thailand.

Santiburi Samui Country ClubPirapon Namatra and Edward Thiele teamed to design the course, which opened in 2004. Quality Golf, maintainers of all three tracks at Hong Kong Golf Club and consultants on the award-winning Ria Bintan Golf Club in Indonesia, ensures the layout is in tip-top condition daily.

Features

  • GETTING THERE: Just 70 minutes by air from Bangkok, and then another 15 minutes by car from the Samui airport.
  • THREE OF A KIND: The club is owned by the Santiburi Group, which also owns the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Santiburi Chiang Rai Country Club and Royal Hua Hin, Thailand's oldest course.
  • SWEET SEVENTEEN: The par-5, 597-yard penultimate hole features a cliff that drops off the right side of the fairway and a creek that runs in front of the green.
